If My Name Was Ricky

If my name was Rick, I could go by the name of Ricky. Now, My name is Eric so it seems like I could go with the "add 'y'" option, but I suffer from "Can't Add 'Y' To Your Name Syndrome," which in the South causes me to lose mad man points. The only way to lose more is add a 'y' to Eric. Here, let's try this comparison.

Eric is an alright dude.

Ericy is crazy and loves to swing on anyone that does not respect his mustache or his new Chuck Norris shirt.

Eric is so clean shaven and respectful to elders.

Ericy is so unpredictable. Where is he? Is he at Piggy Pit in Springfield fighting over the rights of the jukebox? Is he at Wal-Mart playing the XBOX360 on demo mode and telling the kids behind him to "Watch 'is." ?

MIchael Vick is Jealous & the Cats are next

Tacky title, but Alabama did dismantle Georgia in their pretty black jerseys. Know this: Alabama has and never will wear black to get pumped for a game... the fans will never rush the field after a win at Bryant-Denny, they expect to win them all... Alabama is #2 in the AP poll... I'm scared the clock will strike midnight... but when?

Roll Tide to all the members of the Tide Nation. Tune in Saturday for Bama-UK at 2:30p on CBS. My wife is in Memphis so I'll be catching the game at the folks' hizzie. By the way, my wife is a UK fan. She has adopted the Crimson blood in football season and I agreed to adopt a little blue during basketball season. At least if UK wins the wife will be in M-town, where the gangstas where a frown... as will I.

One out of four ain't bad

I was only right on one of four games I predicted on Saturday. Luckily it was the only one that mattered. Alabama grilled some Hogs 49-14 in Fayetteville. I was wrong about Tennessee (30-6 LOSERS to Florida), Auburn (26-21 LOSERS to LSU), and Vandy (23-17 WINNERS over Ole Miss). Being wrong ain't so bad either...

Athens, GA is next on the map for the Tide... ROLL TIDE

Death and Taxes... Whatchoo Talkin' About Government?

I hear the government wants to pass the responsibility to the tax payers (those of you who are at work reading this blog or typing like myself) for the proverbial poop-in-the-pants situation caused by horrendous financial decisions made by the banks and unqualified homeowners.

Why did the financial institutions decide they wanted to give money to people who have proven they won't pay it back? Greed, maybe? Not everyone is entitled to everything. "Sacrifice" and the "American people" will never again be used in the same sentence (other than this sentence).

That being said, I'm not hardened to the fact that some people legitimately need assistance from the government. It's the one bad apple that spoils the whole bunch and the financial institutions like banks and Johnny-come-lately mortgage lenders have done their part to speed the spoiling process. Don't get me started on the crooks with CASH ADVANCE and PAYDAY LOANS in their business name.

I'll continue this rant later. I have to get back to work so that I can feed another family. I'll have to work overtime to feed my own.

Prediction Time

I am a HUGE sports fan. Especially college football (ROLL TIDE!). In my spare time I do play-by-play for Greenbrier High School Football and Springfield High School Basketball. I help a guy with a weekly sports talk show as well on Saturday Mornings. Feel free to listen Saturdays at 7:30a on 1100 WSGI.

Enough with the shameless plugs. I love trying to predict the scores of games. Why? Who knows. Men refuse to simply watch a game for the beauty, pagentry, and artistic greatness that is football. We have to make an attempt to guess what the score will be. GOOD TIMES!

Take a look at these predictions and come back Monday to see how right (or wrong) I am.

1. Alabama @ Arkansas - Bama will win 38-16
2. Florida @ Tennessee - Tennessee will win 23-16
3. LSU @ Auburn - Auburn will win 10-7
4. Vandy @ Ole Miss - Ole Miss will win 21-17

What's In a Name?

Have you ever noticed that motels that have names like Royal Inn, Paradise Inn, Kings Inn are neither royal or kingly and certainly no paradise? It usually smells of menthol cigs and a mildewed sock, has lukewarm water, and the floor has a pleasant dampness that can be compared to walking barefoot in a gas station bathroom.

The same can be said for people with first names of stature. Take someone named Princess, Queen, or Precious. Ninety-nine percent of these people act nothing like a princess or queen and are certainly not precious. As a matter of fact, they will never hold a position in life equal to their name. Basically, they're set up to fail from the day the state stamps the birth certifcate.

The lesson to be learned from entry one is to avoid making reservations at any motels with Royal or Paradise in the name and be wary of people named after royalty (Queen, Princess, etc). Better yet, if you are forced to stay at a Royal Inn and the person's nametag at the front desk reads "Princess"... good luck.
